Biography
Stephen brings over 30 years of experience as a highly commercial TMT/corporate lawyer, having worked in top City of London firms and as in-house GC for companies like Virgin Mobile. Since 2016, he has been working in the MENA region, adding extensive international expertise to our team
He has extensive international experience across:
- Telecoms/ technology (commercial and regulatory matters including fintech).
- Extensive experience of driving UK and International launches of MVNO telecoms businesses: c.25 successful launches & five host network migrations, plus potential launches reviewed in a further c.30 countries – across Europe, CEE, the Americas, Middle East/ Africa and Asia-Pacific – and covering the major MVNO models (Full, ESP, Reseller, B-brand).
- Extensive experience of creating and negotiating the wholesale, regulatory, funding and partnership structures that form the essential foundations for launch success, and identifying and overcoming potential launch hurdles.
- Additional experience in eSIM, IoT, fixed line telecoms, VoIP and mobile financial services.
- Substantial M&A and listed company transactional and governance experience (share, business and asset acquisitions and joint ventures).
- IT/ SaaS (development, supply, outsourcing and acquisition agreements for software, hardware, systems, platforms, plus data protection matters).
- Director and company secretary roles, on main board and OpCo boards.
- Fractional GC roles (20 years of experience in GC roles and management team positions).
Stephen is qualified as a lawyer in England and Hong Kong. He holds a masters degree from Cambridge University and an MBA (Distinction) from Bath University’s School of Management.
